PPS Destinations Report Christmas Island, Republic of KiribatiDate: November 2006 Reported by Dr. John F. Whitaker,
DDS, Hawthorne, California, USA Had
a wonderful trip to CI. There was a group of 7 of who stayed at Shark's
Cove. No one else was fishing at any of the other places on the island.
The weather was fantastic. No wind for three days and then only moderate
winds for the other three. The bonefishing was unreal. Our group had
about 750 bones in six days. The biggest of the trip was in the nine pound
range. In one day on Lone Palm flat I had an 8, a seven, and two in the 5
pound range. The over all size of the fish was bigger than in the
past. No big GT's were caught but all of us got shots at big ones.
Many smaller blues and even a golden and a stripped were caught. I got a
very big sweet lips out at Korean wreck. The guides and food were very
good at Shark's.
